Tag 7 – Day 7

The next day we went back to the mountains. First we stopped in Revelstoke. A small farmers market was just taking place here.

Bären gab es hier reichlich. ;) There were plenty of bears here.

The Meadows in the Sky Road, which is part of Mt. Revelstoke NP, also begins here in Revelstoke. We got a One Day parking permit here and drove into the mountains. Unfortunately, this experience was pretty disappointing. First of all, the weather wasn’t great (overcast and it started to trickle), secondly, you couldn’t go up to the top because the road was still closed due to snow. Here is a view of Revelstoke.

On the way we stopped at 2 boardwalks. One was the Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk Trail. Here you walk on wooden walkways through a swamp area. The cabbage plants have fairly large leaves. We liked it there very much. A heavenly peace and quiet and hardly any people on the way. It should also be a bird’s paradise … unfortunately I only heard the birds and didn’t see them.

I think this was a great stop even without any bird sightings. The next stop was at the Giant Cedars Boardwalk Trail. Here you could walk up the mountain on wooden walkways and stairs. The trees are not as big as the redwoods in California, but they are worth seeing.

Then it went on to the Glacier NP (Canada). Unfortunately the weather was bad and the mountain peaks in clouds.

Es gab hier auch eine Schneekanone. :D There was also a snow cannon here.

We stayed at the Days Inn in Golden, right on the edge of the Canadian Rockies. The accommodation was very good.
