Denmark und Elephant Rocks
Unser nächstes Übernachtungsziel war Albany, wo wir 2 Nächte vorgebucht hatten.
Unterwegs haben wir uns aber noch Denmark und die Elephant Rocks angesehen.
Denmark ist ein schöner Ort mit vielen kleinen Shops, vielen Grünanlagen und hübschen Blüten.
Our next overnight destination was Albany, where we had pre-booked 2 nights.
On the way we looked at Denmark and the Elephant Rocks. Denmark is a beautiful place with many small shops, lots of green spaces and pretty flowers.
Mir war aufgefallen, dass sehr viele Ortsnamen hier im Südwesten mit “up” enden, wie z.B. Yalingup, Boranup, Munjimup, Mordalup etc. etc.
Irgendwo hatte ich gelesen, dass diese Namen aus der Aborigines Sprache kommen.
Niemand weiß genau wie die Aborigines nach Australien gekommen sind. Es gibt zahlreiche Theorien.
Da in Dänemark auch einige Orte mit der Endung “up” existieren und es hier in WA auch noch den Ort Denmark gibt, hat mich das zur Theorie veranlasst, dass die Aborigines Dänen gewesen sein müssen. 
Meine Tochter wollte mir das aber nicht so recht glauben. 
I had noticed that a lot of place names here in the southwest end with “up”, such as Yalingup, Boranup, Munjimup, Mordalup etc. etc. I read somewhere that these names come from the Aboriginal language. Nobody knows exactly how the Aborigines came to Australia. There are numerous theories. Since there are also some places in Denmark with the ending “up” and there is also the place Denmark here in WA, this led me to theorize that the Aborigines must have been Danes. But my daughter didn’t really want to believe me.
Die Elephant Rocks liegen in einer geschützten Bucht. The Elephant Rocks are situated in a sheltered bay.
Der Strand bei den Elephant Rocks ist im Sommer ein beliebter Badeplatz.
Wobei man sagen muss, dass die Strände hier nie so voll werden können, wie z.B. in Europa. Es gibt einfach zu viele davon.
The beach at the Elephant Rocks is a popular swimming spot in summer. It has to be said that the beaches here can never get as crowded as, for example, in Europe. There are just too many of them.
Das ist die benachbarte Bucht. This is the neighboring bay.
Hier war es schon schön warm, auch wenn die Sonne nicht immer raus kam. Einige Leute waren sogar im Meer schwimmen.
It was nice and warm here, even though the sun didn’t always come out. Some people even went swimming in the sea.
