Island 2016 – Lava, Dampf und Regenbögen

Dann ging es weiter auf dem Golden Circle zum Geothermalgebiet Haukadalur.
Hier gibt es den Geysir, dem Namensgeber aller Geysire, der inzwischen nicht mehr ausbricht und den Geysir Strokkur der alle paar Minuten hochgeht.

Das Gebiet ist sehr schön und farbvoll. Das Wetter war schlecht und das Licht nicht mehr so gut…später kam aber noch mal kurz die Sonne raus.

Then we continued on the Golden Circle to the Haukadalur geothermal area. There is the geyser, the namesake of all geysers, which no longer erupts and the Strokkur geyser which goes up every few minutes. The area is very beautiful and full of color. The weather was bad and the light wasn’t so good anymore … but later the sun came out again.

Hier habe ich nur noch den Dampf von einem Ausbruch des Strokkur gesehen.

Here I only saw the steam from an eruption of the Strokkur.

So kündigt sich ein Ausbruch an….

So an outbreak announces itself …

….dann geht es blitzschnell weiter….

…. then it goes on at lightning speed ….

….und der Geysir schießt geschätzte 15 bis 20 Meter in die Höhe…..

…. and the geyser shoots up an estimated 15 to 20 meters …..

…und fällt dann wieder zusammen.

… and then collapses again.

Weiter auf der Runde ging es zum Gullfoss, dem meistbesuchten Wasserfall in Island.

Further on the round it went to Gullfoss, the most visited waterfall in Iceland.

Die Leute auf dieser Felsnase waren anschließend triefnass, allerdings waren viele mit Regenhose- und -jacke vorbereitet.

The people on this ledge were soaking wet afterwards, but many were prepared with rain trousers and jackets.

Fazit Golden Circle: Eine lohnende Tagestour, mit etlichen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Leider war das Wetter ein bißchen düster.

Conclusion Golden Circle: A worthwhile day tour, with a number of sights. Unfortunately the weather was a bit gloomy.
