Island 2016 – Lava, Dampf und Regenbögen

Am nächsten Tag sind wir noch einmal an diesem Geothermalgebiet vorbeigekommen. Ich bin hier noch einmal ausgestiegen um ein paar Fotos zu machen.
Mehr als ein Bild ist es aber nicht geworden. Es war dermaßen stürmisch und regnerisch, dass meine Jeans innerhalb von 5 Sekunden total durchnässt war.
Das ist der isländisch Querregen, wie meine Tochter ihn nennt.

The next day we passed this geothermal area again. I got off here again to take a few photos. But it didn’t turn out to be more than a picture. It was so stormy and rainy that my jeans were completely soaked within 5 seconds. This is the Icelandic cross rain, as my daughter calls it.

Ein weiterer Ausflug führte uns auf den sogenannten Golden Circle. Man musste zunächst nach Rejkavik, wo wir uns ein bißchen am Hafen umgesehen haben.
Bekannt ist dieses Wikingerboot Denkmal.

Another excursion took us to the so-called Golden Circle. First you had to go to Rejkavik, where we took a look around the harbor. This Viking boat monument is well known.

Ich habe noch nie so viele Regenbögen gesehen, wie in diesen paar Tagen Island.

I have never seen so many rainbows as I did in these few days in Iceland.

Zu Beginn des Golden Circle kommt man in den Þingvellir Nationalpark.

Hier kann man über glitschige Steine in einen Canyon runterlaufen, der einst als angeblich erster Ort für Hinrichtungen nach Richterspruch gedient hat.
Es gab hier ein Ertränkungsbecken und die Verurteilten wurden einfach vom Rand des Canyons runtergeworfen.

At the beginning of the Golden Circle you come to the Þingvellir National Park. Here you can walk down slippery stones into a canyon that was once supposedly the first place for executions after a judge’s verdict. There was a drowning pool here and the convicts were simply thrown off the edge of the canyon.
